Alan Wake 2 is a survival horror game developed by Remedy Entertainment. This is a sequel to Alan Wake, released in 2010 - a game that set the bar quite high. This time, the developers are aiming even higher. The question is, will they succeed?
Story
The events in Alan Wake 2 take place 13 years after the disappearance of the eponymous character, bestselling novelist Alan Wake.
A series of ritualistic murders occur in the small town of Bright Falls. FBI agent Saga Anderson is sent to investigate these murders. However, she soon finds herself drawn into a nightmare - a dark novel written by Wake, who tries to escape the sinister world he created.
Gameplay
Similar to the first installment, Alan Wake II is played from a third-person perspective (TPP). However, unlike its predecessor, the second installment is a typical survival horror game. In the fight against the forces of darkness, the player will have at his disposal various weapons and… a flashlight.
Inventory space and ammunition are limited, so the game must be played with caution. Dodging is also possible.
An entirely new feature in Alan Wake 2 is the appearance of a second playable character (Saga Anderson). The game consists of two interconnected campaigns, allowing the player to switch between characters.
Another interesting novelty is the FBI agent's ability called Mind Place. It is a place hidden deep in her mind, used to store all the investigation-related information and connect them together. New insights, properly connected, appear on a special board.
